Power Generation

SBEC Bioenergy Limited
SBEC Bioenergy Limited was established to implement a cogeneration project aimed at producing and supplying power to SBEC Sugar Limited for its internal operations, while also exporting surplus electricity to the state power grid. The company has signed a long-term conversion agreement with SBEC Sugar to supply power and steam in exchange for bagasse and water sourced from the sugar plant.
In process-driven industries, power and steam are essential inputs, and for facilities with continuous demand for both, cogeneration offers the most cost-effective solution. This is where technical know-how plays a crucial role.
Bagasse-based cogeneration technology, used for power export, is a proven and widely adopted solution in several countries, including the United States, Mauritius, and the Dominican Republic. Compared to traditional thermal or hydro power plants, such projects benefit from a shorter gestation period, making them more efficient to implement.
